The Palms to Open the Most State-of-the-Art Concert Theater in the World
The Palms Hotel & Casino has plans to open (in the spring of 2007) the most advanced concert facility in the world, named "the Pearl." The facility will seat up to 2,400 concert goers. With no columns in the way, the farthest seat from the stage will be 120 feet away. Near the stage, there will be two 14 by 16 foot video screens along with plasma screens stationed throughout the concourses. The sound system will be hard-wired to the Palms recording studio for the production of live concert albums. In addition, the sound system will include 60 JBL Vertec series loudspeakers. The acoustics have been carefully designed to give the best sound possible in a concert setting. Along with concerts, the facility is designed to host live television programs, sporting events and awards shows
The Pearl will have three levels of seating with bars and bathrooms located on each level. More importantly, the venue will have 18 private and semi-private sky boxes with their own bars and restrooms.
George Maloof of the Palms is constantly pushing the envelope for entertainment in Las Vegas. He should be nominated for the gaming hall of fame, but he's probably not old enough at the age of 41.
John Laub is the president of the CEO-CFO Group.
